My Waterway@Punggol a winner again

The multi-award winning My Waterway@Punggol development by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) has received yet another accolade, the 2012 International Award for Liveable Communities under the Project Built section.

The award recognises best practices in managing the local environment, conferred by the LivCom Management Company and endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). More than 50 countries took part in the annual competition.

Punggol Waterway was chosen as the winner by a panel of experts, based on the following criteria: Enhancement of the natural and Built Landscape, arts, culture and heritage, environmental best practices, community participation and empowerment, healthy lifestyle and strategic planning.

“HDB and its partner agencies designed My Waterway@Punggol to let all residents enjoy ‘Green Living by the Waters’. Rather than leave this as a functional pipeline linking two reservoirs, our team of planners, engineers and architects have worked hard to create this unique waterfront experience, while also preserving the nature and heritage of the area,” said Sng Cheng Keh, Deputy CEO (Building) of the housing board.

The awards were given out on Monday at a ceremony held in the United Arab Emirates.
