Giant pandas arrive in Singapore

The arrival of two giant pandas from China was marked by a welcome ceremony at Changi Airport today.

Property developer CapitaLand, which is a sponsor, joined the Wildlife Resources Singapore (WRS) in welcoming “Kai Kai”, the male panda and his female companion “Jia Jia” to Singapore.
The move is expected to raise awareness on the conservation and development of a breeding programme for the critically endangered species.

CapitaLand will help build the pandas’ habitat and support research efforts for their conservation.

“The Giant Panda Collaborative Programme reflects the close friendship between Singapore and China. As a Singapore-headquartered company with a strong presence in China, CapitaLand is happy to be the Presenting Sponsor and Conservation Donor of the collaboration,” said Ng Kee Choe, Chairman of CapitaLand.

Liew Mun Leong, President and CEO of CapitaLand and Director of CapitaLand Hope Foundation, added: “CapitaLand’s role as the Presenting Sponsor and Conservation Donor of the Giant Panda Collaborative Programme resonates with the Group’s core values of ‘People’ and ‘Community’.”
