Singapore shares end flat

SINGAPORE - Singapore share prices closed flat on Tuesday as some traders sought to cash out gains made in the previous two sessions.

The blue-chip Straits Times Index closed 0.1% or 4.08 points lower at 3,067.74.

Shares had closed at a more than one-year high on Monday after stronger jobs data in the US and comments by European leaders about taking steps to control eurozone's economic crisis lifted sentiment.

In the broader market, 1.56 billion shares changed hands on Tuesday. Losers outnumbered gainers 233 to 150.

Among the losers, CapitaLand closed 2.2% lower at S$3.06, City Developments closed 1.2% lower at S$11.80 and CapitaMalls Asia shed 0.9% to close at S$1.685.

Fraser & Neave continued to gain after its board last week accepted an offer from Heineken to acquire the Singapore company's stake in Asia Pacific Breweries, which is controlled by their joint venture. F&N shares closed 0.7% higher at S$8.28.
