Joseph Schooling out of 100m fly

LONDON -- Singapore swimmer Joseph Schooling will not be racing in the semi-finals of the men's 100m butterfly on Thursday evening (Friday morning, Singapore time).
The 17-year-old finished 35th out of 43 competitors after clocking 53.63secs to finish third in Heat 2 at the London Olympic Park's Aquatic Centre earlier today.
His personal best in the event is the national record of 53.18 set at last year's SEA Games in Indonesia.

South Africa's Chad Le Clos was the fastest qualifier from the heats with a time of 51.54.
Despite his Olympic debut on Monday being affected by a mix-up over his cap and goggles which ruined his race in the 200m fly heats, the Florida-based teenager still drew plenty of positives from his experience in London.
"All in all, the experience I've gained and people I've seen and learnt from, I'll take it back with me," he said.
