IDA sets minimum service standards for OpenNet

SINGAPORE: Consumers can expect a minimum timeframe in getting fibre infrastructure set up at their homes to access Singapore's ultra-fast broadband network.

The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has imposed new quality of service standards on the infrastructure's builder, OpenNet.

OpenNet is required to fulfil 98 per cent of residential orders for the infrastructure within three working days. Within seven working days, it has to meet all residential orders.

For non-residential buildings, OpenNet has to meet 80 per cent of orders within four weeks. And within eight weeks, all non-residential orders have to be met.

These minimum standards will take effect from January 2013.
