Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064-based MDP available now

The APQ8064-based Snapdragon S4 Pro Mobile Development Platform.

Qualcomm has announced that its tablet running a quad-core APQ8064 S4 Pro Mobile Development Platform (MDP) is available now for US$1,299. This is available from Bsquare and will ship within 2 - 3 weeks.

The package includes the Android 4.0 tablet, a docking station and the power adapter. Bsquare ships internationally, so this is available to users in Asia. We previewed a dual-core version of this reference device at Computex earlier this year--that tablet was running Windows RT, not Android.

The APQ8064 is the company's latest quad-core chip and comes with its Adreno 320 graphics processor. The MDP is meant for developers to create and test their programs using the new chipset. This should interest game developers, who will be able to create apps that make use of the increased graphics processing power before actual products using this chipset arrive at the end of the year.
