PUB, Meiden to establish plant to treat industrial used water

SINGAPORE: National water agency PUB and manufacturing company Meiden Singapore will collaborate on a new technology that will treat and recycle industrial used water in a more energy-efficient and cost-effective manner.

An agreement signed on Monday will see the set up of a Ceramic Membrane MBR Demonstration Plant.

Meiden will also establish an R&D centre and assembly factory for ceramic membrane units.

Ceramic Membrane MBR Demonstration Plant is said to have a longer lifespan compared to conventional ones and can produce a stable water supply for recycling purposes.

The demonstration plant will be located at the Jurong Water Reclamation Plant and is expected to be completed by August next year.

The one year demonstration study will focus on process optimization.

The plant will be able to treat one million gallon of industrial used water per day.
