PAP Hougang advisor plans to work with MP-elect Png

SINGAPORE: The People's Action Party's advisor to the Hougang grassroots organisations, Desmond Choo said he is working with the Hougang MP-elect to deliver the Lift Upgrading Programme for residents as soon as they can.

Mr Choo said the Lift Upgrading Programme for 20 blocks in Hougang has garnered the required 75 per cent support.

Residents in 20 blocks in Hougang Avenue 5 and 7 voted for lift upgrading.

New lifts will be added to these blocks and existing ones will be upgraded to serve every floor.

Mr Choo also plans to raise funds at the upcoming National Day dinner for various programmes such as toilet refurbishment, tuition and transport subsidies projects.

Mr Choo was speaking to the media on the sidelines of an NTUC event on Wednesday morning.

"This is a big, important step for an ageing estate like Hougang. I am very happy to see that they will be getting their LUP... We will continue to push HDB to ensure we deliver the LUP as soon as we can," said Mr Choo.

"I am sure in the subsequent days ahead, once Mr Png (Eng Huat, MP-elect for Hougang) is more settled into his job, we can work out plans on how to better the lives of Hougang residents," he added.
