Asus Transformer tablets getting Android 4.1 updates

According to its North America Facebook page, the Asus Transformer Prime, Transformer Pad and Transformer Pad Infinity will be getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Although no timeline was given, the post says that it is scheduled "in the coming months".

It was not clearly stated whether the Transformer Pad getting the update is the original model or the Nvidia Tegra 3-powered version. However, we'll hazard a guess that it's the latter that will be Jelly Bean-flavored. Asus was also not able to confirm whether other devices, such as the tablet-phone hybrid PadFone, will be eligible for an update at the moment. However, the company says it is "still investigating" this.

We have contacted the company regarding updates in Asia and are awaiting further comment.

Nonetheless, Asus has beaten other tablet makers to the punch in announcing Jelly Bean updates for its tablets, and that is a feat in itself.
