Singapore stocks close flat

SINGAPORE : Stocks in Singapore closed flat on Tuesday as gains following strong US manufacturing data were offset by selling of DBS shares on news of its acquisition of Indonesia's Bank Danamon.

The Straits Times Index fell 1.09 points to end at 3,014.98.

Volume was 2.6 billion shares.

Losers led gainers 203 to 173.

DBS declined 2.8 per cent to S$13.79 while United Overseas Bank rose 2.0 per cent to S$18.64.

Neptune Orient Lines climbed 1.4 per cent to S$1.45 while Noble Group was up 0.4 per cent at S$1.385.

Among other stocks, Hyflux advanced 2.3 per cent to S$1.545 while Keppel Corp ended 0.4 per cent higher at S$10.96.
