Keppel Corp secures US$205m contract

SINGAPORE: Keppel Corporation has secured a contract from Perforadora Central SA de CV, a Mexican offshore and onshore drilling services company, to build a jackup rig worth US$205 million.

In a statement, Keppel said this is the fourth jackup rig that its wholly-owned subsidiary US unit, Keppel AmFELS, is building for Perforadora Central.

The new rig is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2014 and it will have the capability to drill wells up to 30,000 feet.

Mr Tan Geok Seng, President of Keppel AmFELS, said: "Having recently secured the Ocean Onyx semi-submersible major upgrade and a series of repairs, this newbuild jackup adds to a healthy workload through Q1 2014. We also continue to pursue projects from Pemex and we are optimistic about our chances."

The contract is not expected to have a material impact on the net tangible assets or earnings per share of Keppel Corporation for the current financial year.
