HP to launch Ivy Bridge laptops next week

Despite rumors that Intel's next-generation Ivy Bridge processors will be delayed till June, it seems that we could be getting them this month after all.
HP is launching updated versions of its Pavilion-branded consumer laptops next week. These models will have a brand new look utilizing a mix of metal and plastic. More importantly, they come with the new Ivy Bridge processors that promise to be better than the current Sandy Bridge versions in both performance and power efficiency.

The HP Pavilion g-series--the 14-inch g4 and the 15.6-inch g6--is targeted at the mainstream user and feature a "bowl-shaped keyboard and textured touchpad". Consumers can choose from three colors: Black, blue and red. Prices start at US$499 and US$529 for the g4 and g6 base models respectively.

The Pavilion dv-series is available in three sizes--the 14-inch dv4, the 15.6-inch dv6 and the 17.3-inch dv7. They all have a tapered chassis design with a soft-touch base. Beats Audio is also included on the dv-series models and enhanced by the presence of a speaker bar just under the display. They start from US$699, US$749 and US$849 respectively.
