Fathers@Schools programme appoints first batch of parent ambassadors

SINGAPORE: The Fathers At School programme appointed its first batch of 23 parent volunteers as ambassadors.

The parent volunteers come from 13 primary and secondary schools and as ambassadors they will focus on encouraging more fathers to get involved in their children's education.

The ambassadors received their appointment certificates on Saturday from Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Education Ministry Hawazi Daipi.

Mr Hawazi said fathers should be more involved in their children's education as research has shown that parental involvement helps to improve a child's academic performance and overall behaviour.

The Fathers At School programme has seen an increase in membership from 55 to 162 schools since its launch in 2010.
