Tested: iPad download speeds around the world

Just because nothing brings out the flag-waving and chest-thumping like an intercontinental speed test involving the new iPad, CNET teams from Australia, Singapore, UK and the US got together to create a video comparing the data speeds achieved by the latest iPad on their respective networks.

While the new iPad comes with 4G support, it's not actually compatible with networks outside North America. However, it will work with existing 3G networks which have download speeds that aren't too shoddy either: In Singapore, M1's HSPA+ network theoretically tops out at a maximum of 21Mbps. Do these networks come close to producing such performance in real-world situations? Click on the video to find out.

Spoiler: 4G isn't always the best and there are worse places than Singapore when it comes to 3G speeds.
