Singapore stocks close 0.9% higher

SINGAPORE : Stocks in Singapore closed 0.9 per cent higher on Tuesday amid optimism over a second Greek bailout.

The Straits Times Index rose 26.89 points to end at 2,989.07.

Volume was 1.29 billion shares.

Gainers led losers 278 to 102.

Noble Group rose 1.5 per cent to S$1.39 while Wilmar International climbed 0.8 per cent to S$4.98.

Sembcorp Marine climbed 1.7 per cent to S$5.25, Keppel Corporation was up 1.7 per cent at S$10.95, while Cosco Corporation rose 3.1 per cent to S$1.18.

CapitaMalls Asia advanced 4.6 per cent to S$1.61, while CapitaLand ended 1.7 per cent higher at S$2.99.

United Overseas Bank was up 1.8 per cent at S$18.01.
