Singapore stocks close 0.4% higher

SINGAPORE : Stocks in Singapore closed 0.4 per cent higher on Tuesday following overnight gains on Wall Street.

The Straits Times Index rose 12.64 points to end at 3,002.73.

Volume was 1.08 billion shares.

Gainers led losers 208 to 146.

CapitaMalls Asia climbed 3.0 per cent to S$1.695, Sembcorp Industries was up 1.4 per cent at S$5.20, StarHub advanced 1.0 per cent to S$3.08, while DBS Bank added 0.21 per cent to S$14.47.

Neptune Orient Lines declined 1.7 per cent to S$1.415, Singapore Airlines fell 0.37 per cent to S$10.89, while STX OSV Holdings rose 1.4 per cent to S$1.78.

Among other stocks, Ezra Holdings ended 2.3 per cent higher at S$1.125, Ezion Holdings gained 4.5 per cent to S$0.935, while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings slipped 1.5 per cent to S$1.355.
