Singapore shares ease following the weaker trend in Asian markets

SINGAPORE : Share prices in Singapore closed mixed following the lacklustre trend in Asian exchanges.

Traders said strong US jobs data released last week gave some support to the market.

But worries over China's economic slowdown dampened buying sentiment in the region.

The market moved within a narrow range as investors turned cautious over the mixed bag of global data.

The ST index edged down 0.97 point to 2,962.18 on a volume of 1,126 million shares.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 210 to 155.

Among actives, Golden Agri-Resources rose half a cent to 74 cents and Noble Group was also half a cent firmer at S$1.37.

Offshore services company Ezra Holdings lost ground after the firm confirmed it had placed 110 million new shares last week.

The counter fell 9 cents or 7.4 percent to S$1.12 in active trading.
