Singapore, Israel to explore new areas of cooperation

SINGAPORE: Singapore and Israel leaders have agreed that both countries should explore new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Friday afternoon.

Both leaders noted that Singapore-Israel relations have expanded beyond the fields of defence and security to include other sectors such as education, science and technology, and culture.

They also had a useful exchange of views on developments in Asia and the Middle East.

Mr Liberman is in Singapore on a two-day official visit from March 22 to 23.
