No Personal Hotspot for new iPad?

If you bought the new Apple iPad just for the tethering feature, get ready to be disappointed. Well, for now at least. Sets sold in Singapore are missing the option, and while it's available if you turn on the iPad for the first time, it vanishes the moment a microSIM card is inserted.

Only the Verizon iPads have had the Personal Hotspot feature enabled so far. Local telco SingTel, told us that it was "working with Apple to enable tethering on the new iPad".

An Apple spokesperson told CNET Asia that he "does not believe Singapore carriers support it at this stage".

We are also checking with our international counterparts on whether the iPads in other countries have the same issue.
