Lonely queue for iPad launch

The non-existent line for the Apple iPad.

With just nine hours to midnight before the first iPad will be sold in Singapore, the lines don't seem to be forming.

Along with the US, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore are some of the countries getting the new iPad tomorrow at 8am.

However, local telco M1 has announced that it will launch the iPad at 12.01am, so the person at the front of the line there will probably be among the first in the world to own the slate (because of time differences).

We spoke with the first in line--a housewife who started queueing 10 hours before the launch with her daughter. She declined to be interviewed, but revealed that this will be her first iPad and that she owns an Apple computer, iPhone and iPod. Her husband, who will be joining her later, is bearing the cost of the iPad.

Elsewhere along Orchard Road, lines have yet to form outside Apple resellers such as Epicentre and iStudio.

Have people already ordered their iPads online, or is it simply too early to tell?
